A new for 2026 step-down performance shortboard based directly on Griffin’s small-wave and pool competition boards, dating back to the 5’10” he rode to victory at the 2022 Surf Ranch Pro.
Matt "Mayhem" Biolos has re-created a slightly wider nose and tail pulled into a precise rounded pin. The low, fast entry rocker creates immediate speed, while the typically curvy performance tail rocker allows the board to turn hard and sharp, enabling Griffin’s signature radical maneuvers.
The overall width remains standard and close to that of a traditional performance board, but with fuller, more forgiving nose and tail widths. It is not wide and clunky like many small-wave boards. Instead, the more parallel outline carries speed and drive without feeling fat or flat.
The Griffin is a solid step-down choice for those looking to create & carry speed through smaller/weaker waves this summer season and into 2027.
